How do I get a library card?
You are eligible for a card if you belong to a member community.  Bring two forms of identification with your name and address to any branch.  You can also apply for a library card onlineMore information

How do I find a book or DVD?
You can find anything in our collection by using CamCat, our online catalog.  Use the search box on the homepage of the catalog to do a keyword search for anything, or use the dropdown to search by title, author or subject.  On the search results pages you can narrow down your search.   We also have a catalog just for kids!  See the Catalog Help for detailed instructions on using features of the catalog. 

How do I see my checked out items and renew?
You need to log into My CamCat  to see your library record.  The link for My CamCat can be found at the top of any page of the library website or the catalog.  To log in you will need to enter your name, library card and a PIN number.

How do I sign up for a class or program?
You can sign up for a class or program online, in person or by phone.  When you use SignUp, our online reservation program, you will get an email confirmation and a reminder shortly before the program occurs. In the dropdown menu at the top of any page under "Events" you can find links for all events or for specific locations or types of events.  Go directly to the Events page.

How do I find an article or do other online research?
The library pays for online databases in many different categories with information that is often not available when doing a web search.  Library members can use many of these databases from home with their library card number.  Under "Research"  in the dropdown menu at the top of any page, click on "Subscription Databases."  Go directly to Subscription Databases.

How do I download an eBook or audiobook?
You can read an eBook or listen to a downloadable audiobook on your computer, or you can transfer them to a number of different ereaders, MP3 players, and smart phones.  Get more information on compatible devices and instructions on our Downloadable Collections page.  The link to this page can be found under "Econtent" in the dropdown menu at the top of any page.  Go directly to the Downloadable Collections page.

How do I reserve a room?
You can reserve a meeting room at any of our branches using SignUp, our online reservation system.  Meeting rooms are available  to individuals and nonprofit agencies or organizations.  Find the link to reserve a meeting room under "Services" in the dropdown menu at the top of any page.  Go directly to the Meeting Room Reservation page.

Library Cards

Am I eligible to get a Camden County Library card?
You are eligible for a card if you belong to a member community.  If you do not belong to a member community, you may get a one-day guest card for computer use only.

Can my child get a library card?
Yes.  The child must come into the library accompanied by a parent or guardian, and the parent or guardian must show two forms of identification showing name and address.

What if I don't have my library card with me?
You may use an ID with your name and address.


Borrowing Materials

How long can I keep materials?  
You can keep books, books on CD, and DVD sets with four or more volumes for three weeks. High demand materials may be kept for two weeks. Videos, DVDs, and Musical CDs may be kept for one week. Back issues of magazines may be borrowed for one week. Museum passes may be borrowed for 4 days.  Book Club in a Bag materials may be borrowed for eight weeks.

Do I have to return materials to the same location I borrowed them from?  
No.  Materials can be returned at any Camden County Library branch.

What if the item I want is already checked out?  
You may place a request in person, over the phone or online.  Call your local branch or use CamCat, our online catalog.  When the item is returned you will get a notice that it is ready for pickup.

What if the item I want is only in another branch?
You may place a request and pick it up at the branch of your choice.

  What if the item I want is not owned by the Camden County Library System?
You can request that we purchase the item, using our Purchase Suggestion form.  We can also borrow the item from another library using  Interlibrary Loan.   

How do I know  when my holds are ready or books are overdue?
When you get a library card you will be asked if you want e-mail, text, or telephone notifications (or both).   You will get a notification if an item is overdue, or if an item you have requested is available.  You will also receive a notification when an item is due in three days.  To change how you receive notifications, go to My CamCat and click on "your messaging."

Returning Materials and Fines

What are the charges if I don't return materials on time?
As of July 1, 2019, Camden County Library has gone fine free, with the exception of the high demand museum passes and Grab and Go items.  Interlibrary Loan items will also still accrue fines.

Can I return items when the library is closed?
Yes.  You may return items at our outdoor book drops.

When are the library branches open?

How do I find directions to the library branches?  
Go to the Locations and Hours page, scroll down to the branch you are interested in, and click on the link for Directions.

How much are photocopies?
Photocopies are $.15 per copy. 

Are there rooms for studying in the library?  
There are small meeting rooms in most of the branches that can be used for study.  Call your local branch for more information.

Does the library have a fax for public use?
There is a public fax at the Ferry Ave. Branch and the Haddon Twp. Branch.

On which holidays does the library close?
The Holiday Closing page can be found under Under "Using the Library"  in the dropdown menu at the top of any page.   Go directly to the Holiday Closings page.

How do I apply for a job at the library?

Computer Questions

Does the library have Internet access or computers with word processing programs?
Yes, there is Internet access and word processing at all branches.  See Computers for more detailed information.

Can I check my e-mail in the library?
Yes.  You may check your online e-mail accounts on the public computers at any of our branches.

Does the library have a scanner?   
There are scanners at the Haddon Twp. and Ferry Ave. branches.

Where can I make color printouts?
Color printouts are available at the Voorhees, Haddon Township, and South County Branches.
