Hours:            On-call basis only, hours may be in morning, afternoon and evenings, during the week or on
                         weekends.  Maximum 6 month appointment, there is no guarantee of hours or schedule.

         

Description of Duties:

Primary duties include performing a variety of library tasks, including but not limited to, discharging and charging library materials;
computing and collecting fines, registering customers for library cards, answering customer questions; locating materials,
filing and shelving materials, and other related duties as required.

Requirements: Knowledge of basic arithmetic using whole numbers, ability to perform extensive alphabetizing
 beyond the first letter of a word, Ability to converse, speaking clearly, concisely, and courteously, Ability to comprehend and follow written and/or oral one-or-two step instructions.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office helpful.

                                  Full Time, 70 hrs in a two week pay period

Salary:                            Librarian 1 $22.9904 per hour ($41,849.08 annually)
                                         Librarian 2 $24.1396 per hour ($43,934.07 annually)

 Schedule:                       Days, Afternoons and (2) nights per week, and weekend rotation
                                         Schedule may be amended based on Library needs

Status:                               Permanent pending NJ Civil Service Procedures

Description of Duties

Duties include acting as the working shift leader, answering in-depth and complex reference and readers’ advisory questions for all customers, assisting customers in using the catalog, conducting library tours, answering questions in-person and over the phone; conducting library tours; making recommendation for collection development including purchasing, weeding, and maintaining all collections. Duties also include developing and conducting programs, primarily teens aged 12-18; developing teen and youth programs; outreach to the teen community; including school visits; Other duties as required.  May be scheduled at other Library facilities.

 

Education/Certification/Experience/ Requirements:

A Master's degree in Library or Information Sciences in a library program accredited by the American Library
 Association or from a New Jersey College Master' program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable
 by Thomas Edison State College.  Possession of a NJ Professional Librarian Certificate issued by Thomas Edison
 College or the credentials and willingness to obtain a NJ Professional Librarian Certificate upon hiring.  
Librarian 2 requires: One year of full time professional librarian experience.  *Experience/Interest in programming
 and collection development for infants through grade 2 is extremely desirable.   Appointee may be required to
 possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform the essential
 duties of the position.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, & creative professional to act as our Story Time Librarian at our busiest branch, serving a diverse & eager population.

Description of Duties

Duties include serving the public, primarily infants through grade 2; developing and delivering age-appropriate programs; proactively conducting outreach to the local community and organizations; providing reference services to all ages; assisting and describing how to search catalog files; providing readers' advisory; answering questions in-person and over the phone; conducting library tours; maintaining collection development including purchasing, weeding, and up keep of all collections; and performing other related duties as required.
