Description of Duties

The Camden County Library System is seeking a creative and innovative Head of Information Technology to oversee all aspects of IT for users and staff of our eight branch system.  We are passionate about improving our customer experience and re-thinking how patrons use and take control of how they use library services both inside and outside of our walls.  We continuously re-think and remove barriers to library use.  The IT department has a crucial leadership role in the achievement of these goals since we will need to use technology in bold and innovative ways to make this happen.

A successful candidate will have experience and knowledge in the use of computer hardware, software, data and voice networks; have knowledge of digital, electronic, mobile and online services and their applications in a public library setting; and have an expert understanding and ability to lead staff towards the implementation of a dynamic and functional social media, web presence, and app.

Experience maintaining and administering an Integrated Library System (ILS) and applying for e-rate funding is a plus.

Additional duties include:

  • Oversees the library system’s data and voice network, Internet connectivity and wireless access.
    Co-administrator for the Integrated Library System (ILS), primarily bibliographic, authority and item record loading, systems administration, loan rule administration, software upgrades, database maintenance and system back up.
    Supervise IT department staff.
    Develop and monitor the IT department budget; facilitates all purchasing for IT.

Education: 

Graduation from an ALA accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Library or Information Science or from a New Jersey Master's program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State College

Experience:

Three (3) years of professional librarian experience. A valid New Jersey professional librarian’s license is required.The successful candidate will have experience in aspects of IT as outlined above.

Description of Duties

Under general supervision, primary duties include performing a variety of public service tasks, including but not limited to, checking in and out of library materials, computing and collecting fines, registering customers for library cards and programs, processing holds, answering general questions from the public, assisting customers in locating materials, shelving materials, assisting customers on the public computers and other related duties as required. May be scheduled at other branches as needed.

Requirements:

Knowledge of basic arithmetic using whole numbers.

Ability to perform extensive alphabetizing beyond the first letter of a word.

Ability to converse courteously in person and using other methods of communication

Ability to comprehend and follow written and/or oral one-or-two step instructions

Knowledge of KOHA and Dewey Decimal System and Basic Computer Skills a plus.

Appointee may be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

Description of Duties
The C
amden County Library System is seeking a Technical Assistant MIS to join our Information Technology team.  Under the supervision of the Head of Information Technology the candidate will install and maintain hardware, software and peripheral equipment system-wide, with primary responsibility for one or more branches, manage trouble tickets, diagnose problems and perform preventative maintenance. In addition, as a member of the IT team, the successful candidate will interact with staff on special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.

The qualified candidate will be customer service oriented with excellent communication skills, including writing reports and technical documentation. May be required to travel to other Library facilities.

Requirements:
EDUCATION: Completion of sixty  (60) semester hour  credits  from  an accredited college or university.
NOTE: Two (2) years of  experience  in  the  gathering, retrieval,   maintenance,  compilation,   and   distribution of technical information in a public or private organization may  be substituted for the above education requirement or  Twenty-four  (24) semesters hours  credits  in  data processing  from  an  accredited college  or  university  may  be substituted  for  up  to two (2) years of the required  education and/or experience. Appointee may be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
