                                  Librarian 2 $25.2420 per hour ($19,688.76 annually)
Schedule:                15 hours a week/30 hours a pay period
                           Schedule based on Library needs, schedule includes  nights and weekends

Description of Duties

The Adult Services Department of the Camden County Library is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and creative Librarian who loves to work with the public. Duties include, but are not limited to, adult reference services (answering reference and reader’s advisory questions using both print and electronic resources; providing instruction in the use of the catalog,( databases and digital content);  and collection development. Additional duties include developing, scheduling and conducting: a diverse format of adult programs, community outreach and library sponsored computer training as well as assisting patrons on public computers, all in conjunction with other staff; other duties as required. May act as the Person-in-Charge of the branch.. May be scheduled at other Library facilities.

Education/Certification/Experience/ Requirements:

A Master's degree in Library or Information Sciences in a library program accredited by the American Library Association or from a New Jersey College Master' program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State College. 

Possession of a NJ Professional Librarian Certificate issued by Thomas Edison College or the credentials and willingness to obtain a NJ Professional Librarian Certificate upon hiring. 

Librarian 2 requires: One year of full time  equivalent professional librarian experience 

Appointee may be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

Description of Duties

Under general supervision, primary duties include performing a variety of public service tasks, including but not limited to, checking in and out of library materials, computing and collecting fines, registering customers for library cards and programs, processing holds, answering general questions from the public, assisting customers in locating materials, shelving materials, assisting customers on the public computers and other related duties as required. May be scheduled at other branches as needed.

Requirements:

Knowledge of basic arithmetic using whole numbers.

Ability to perform extensive alphabetizing beyond the first letter of a word.

Ability to converse courteously in person and using other methods of communication

Ability to comprehend and follow written and/or oral one-or-two step instructions

Knowledge of KOHA and Dewey Decimal System and Basic Computer Skills a plus.
