Job Title:                               Maintenance Superintendent, 35 hours week, (70 hours per pay period)                       

Department:                        Maintenance, System wide

Salary:                                   $29.0998 per hour ($52,961 yr)

Schedule:                          Primarily days, but schedule may be adjusted based on Library needs

Description of Duties

The Maintenance Superintendent reports to the Library Director and is responsible for the coordination, oversight and completion of all activities related to the maintenance of facilities and grounds.  Such activities include, but are not limited to, oversight of mechanical systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical and generators, and scheduling of landscaping, grass cutting, trash, recycling and snow removal and oversight of all interior repairs and improvements.  Orders, distributes and maintains supplies and equipment.  Schedules inspections as required.  Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations.  Obtains quotes for services and supplies and schedules work.  Prepares purchase requisitions and assists with preparation of bids for services.  Develops annual budget for all aspects of facility maintenance and anticipates future facility maintenance needs. 

The Maintenance Superintendent supervises, schedules and deploys staff throughout the Library System and oversees the work of outside vendors.  This position is on call 24/7 and responds to emergencies, addresses immediate facility issues and coordinates snow and ice removal as needed.

Requirements: Experience and License:

Five (5) years of supervisory experience in work involving a variety of maintenance and repair tasks. Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

Applications of current employees will be reviewed first, then, other applications will be reviewed in the following order:  residents of Camden County, Contiguous County Residents, and other NJ State Residents.   If the chosen applicant is a not a New Jersey resident, he or she must become a bona fide New Jersey resident to be appointed to the position within the timeframe designated by the Library, not to exceed one year.

The chosen candidate may be required to complete and pass a background and drug screening process
