How do I get a library card?
You are eligible for a card if you belong to a member community. Bring two forms of identification with your name and address to any branch. You can also apply for a library card online. More information
How do I find a book or DVD?
You can find anything in our collection by using CamCat, our online catalog. Use the search box on the homepage of the catalog to do a keyword search for anything, or you can search in just one branch, or just for DVDs, audiobooks, music, large print or young adult titles. We also have a catalog just for kids! See the Catalog Help for detailed instructions on using all the features of the catalog.
How do I see my checked out items and renew?
You need to log into My CamCat to see your library record. The link for My CamCat can be found at the top of any page of the library website or the catalog. How do I sign up for a class or program?
You can sign up for a class or program online, in person or by phone. When you use SignUp, our online reservation program, you will get an email confirmation and a reminder shortly before the program occurs. In the dropdown menu at the top of any page under "Events" you can find links for all events or for specific locations or types of events. Go directly to the Events page.
How do I find an article or do other online research?
The library pays for online databases in many different categories with information that is often not available when doing a web search. Library members can use many of these databases from home with their library card number. Under "Research" in the dropdown menu at the top of any page, click on "Subscription Databases." Go directly to Subscription Databases.
How do I download an eBook or audiobook?
You can read an eBook or listen to a downloadable audiobook on your computer, or you can transfer them to a number of different ereaders, MP3 players, and smartphones. How do I reserve a room?
You can reserve a meeting room at any of our branches using SignUp, our online reservation system. Meeting rooms are available to individuals and nonprofit agencies or organizations. Am I eligible to get a Camden County Library card?
You are eligible for a card if you belong to a member community. If you do not belong to a member community, you may get a one-day guest card for computer use only.
Can my child get a library card?
Yes. The child must come into the library accompanied by a parent or guardian, and the parent or guardian must show two forms of identification showing name and address.
How long can I keep materials?
You can keep books, books on cassette and books on CD for three weeks. High demand materials may be kept for two weeks. Videos, DVDs, and Musical CDs may be kept for one week. Back issues of magazines may be borrowed for one week.
What if the item I want is already checked out?
You may place a request in person, over the phone or online. Call your local branch or use CamCat, our online catalog. When the item is returned you will get a notice that it is ready for pickup.
What if the item I want is not owned by the Camden County Library System?
You can request that we purchase the item, using our online Wishlist/ Interlibrary Loan. If the request falls in our guidelines, we will either purchase the item or borrow it from another library.
How do I know when my holds are ready or books are overdue?
When you get a library card you will be asked if you want e-mail or print notifications. Print notifications are mailed to any patron who has not requested e-mail notifications. You will get a notification if an item is overdue, or if an item you have requested is available. Patrons receiving e-mail notifications will also receive a notification when an item is due in three days. To receive e-mail notification instead of print, go to My CamCat and click on "Modify Personal Information." Enter your e-mail address in the e-mail address field and click on "Submit."
What are the fines if I don't return materials on time?
The fine for books, music CDs, books on CDs, and magazines is $.20 per day. The fine for videos and DVDs is $1.00 a day. The maximum fine for each item is $10.00.
When are the library branches open?
Daily hours are posted on the Locations and Hours page.
How do I find directions to the library branches?
Go to the Locations and Hours page, scroll down to the branch you are interested in, and click on the link for Directions.
Are there rooms for studying in the library?
There are small meeting rooms in most of the branches that can be used for study. Call your local branch for more information.
On which holidays does the library close?
