Assistance by Appointment FAQs

Who may use this service?
This service is for adults 18 years and older with a Camden County Library card in good standing.

How long is the appointment?
The appointment will last a maximum of  one hour. One appointment is available every three months.

Who will receive my question, and when will I receive an appointment?
Your question will be sent to the person in charge of this service and then be referred to the appropriate staff person, who will schedule a convenient time for you to meet.

When is this service available?
Monday through Friday from 10 am - noon and 2 - 5 pm. Evening appointments are available by special arrangement. Weekend appointments are not available.

What kinds of questions are appropriate?
At this time the service is for help in filling out an online job application, job searching online, posting your resume, using our databases, finding magazine and journal articles on your topic, using CamCat, Camden County Library’s  online catalog, and a general introduction to Camden County’s resources. This service is not to replace the computer classes already offered by the library.

Is there a charge for this service?
The service is free, but there is a charge for printing, fifteen cents a page for black and white and fifty cents a page for color.

What will the assistant do for me during our appointment?
Our approach will be to guide you through your online application process, including the posting of your resume. We will also help you to learn to use the computer and walk you through the databases that will aid you in your research. During our time together, you will learn the skills to complete your task or research on your own.

What if you cannot keep your appointment?
You must cancel or reschedule your appointment no later than 24 hours before your scheduled time.  Failure to cancel or reschedule may result in a delay before you can reschedule.

Please suggest at least two (2) dates and times when you are available to meet with your Assistant. Note:

  • Research consultation sessions are scheduled Monday through Friday between the hours of 10 am and noon and 2 pm and 5 pm. Evening appointments may be available by special arrangement.
