Title:                 Building Maintenance Worker/Maintenance Repairer

                         24 hours/pay period (2 weeks)

Department:     Maintenance Department, System wide

Salary:             $11.7261 per hour

Schedule:        Primarily nights and weekends;

                        Schedule may change based on Library needs

Status:              Permanent after completing 90-day working test period

Description of Duties:  

Under supervision performs varied simple and moderately physically strenuous tasks, which include vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, collecting trash, dusting and polishing furniture, and maintaining and requesting supplies.  Also, pick up trash outside, minor grounds keeping, shovel snow, and spread sand or salt on icy surfaces when needed, set-up and break down of meeting rooms.  Monitors HVAC and all mechanical systems such as water, fire/sprinkler systems, emergency lighting, and electrical timers.

Occasionally may assis in making minor repairs to the building or equipment and work on a ladder.  When needed may assist in making minor repairs to the building and equipment.  Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements:

Knowledge of procedures, materials, and tools used in washing, waxing, vacuuming, and polishing wood, tile, cement, linoleum, glass, and other woodwork, furniture and fixtures.  Knowledge of method used in cutting grass and raking leaves and weeds.  Ability to understand, remember and carry out written and oral instructions.  Ability to use snow blower and small gas engine equipment such as gas trimmers, lawn mowers, and blowers.

Job Title:  Library Assistant, 30 hrs/pay period (2 wks)

Department:  Literacy Department, M. Allan Vogelson Regional Branch, Voorhees, NJ   
Salary:   $11.7261 per hour
 
Schedule:  Primarily daytime hours with occasional nights and weekends;
   Schedule may change based on Library/Literacy Department needs

Status:   Permanent after completing 90-day working test period

Description of Duties
Under general supervision, this position performs a variety of clerical duties which include inputting information into a database, answering general questions in person, by telephone or email about the Literacy Department and library services, assisting in compiling quarterly reports, prepare information and materials for training classes and programs, prepares general correspondence,  and other related duties as required.  This position interacts with staff, tutors, literacy students and the general public; the successful candidate will have the ability to communicate in a positive, profession manner.  This position may be scheduled in other departments.

Requirements:
Knowledge of basic arithmetic using whole numbers and the ability to perform extensive alphabetizing beyond the first letter of a word.
Ability to converse courteously in person and using other methods of communication
Ability to comprehend and follow written and/or oral one-or-two step instructions
Knowledge of Millennium and Dewey Decimal System and Basic Computer Skills a plus
Appointee may be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
Extensive knowledge of  Windows is a plus, ability to leave Literacy Department-specific required.

Description of Duties
Under general supervision, primary duties include but not limited to, discharging and charging library materials, computing and collecting fines, registering customers for library cards and programs, processing holds, answering general questions from the public, assisting customers in locating materials, shelving materials, emptying the book drop, assisting customers on the public computers and other related duties as required. May be scheduled at other branches.

Requirements:
Knowledge of basic arithmetic using whole numbers with the
