Job Title: Monitor, 8 hr/wk, Job Posting 23-13
Department: Merchantville Public Library, Merchantville
Salary: $7.25 per hour
Schedule: Days, Evenings and weekends (Some holidays)
Status: Unclassified
Description of Duties
As a Monitor a candidate may be asked to:
- Cart and shelve Library materials.
- Gather and shelve material that accumulates on book carts, tables, shelves, and study carrels.
- Shelf reading (making sure that materials are in the correct order).
- Empty the outdoor book drops including on weekends and holidays
- Answer the phone and direct calls to the appropriate individuals
- Fax materials to other libraries and to patrons.
At times, in order to perform assigned duties to this position, you may be asked to push a full book cart which can weigh up to 40lbs, twist, bend, kneel, reach, walk or stand for extended periods. May be scheduled at other branches.
Requirements:
Knowledge of basic arithmetic using whole numbers and the Dewey Decimal System
Ability to perform extensive alphabetizing beyond the first letter of a word.
Ability to converse courteously in person and using other methods of communication
Ability to comprehend and follow written and/or oral one-or-two step instructions
Appointees may be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform the
essential duties of the position.

Description of Duties
The Adult Services Department of the Camden County Library is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and creative Senior Librarian who loves to work with the public. Duties include, but are not limited to, adult reference services (answering reference and reader’s advisory questions using both print and electronic resources; providing instruction in the use of the catalog and databases and collection development). Additional duties include developing, scheduling and conducting: a diverse format of adult programs, community outreach and library sponsored computer training, all in conjunction with other staff; other duties as required.
Requirements:
A Master's degree in Library or Information Science in a library program accredited by the American Library Association or from a New Jersey College Master's Program in Library Science that has been deemed acceptable by Thomas Edison State College and one (1) years of professional librarian experience.
Appointee may be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.

Description of Duties
As an intern, you will:
- Find out what a librarian in one of the busiest libraries in New Jersey does
- Learn the sources you will need to assist customers
- Gain experience working with library customers at our busy service desks
- Gain experience setting-up and conducting programs.
- Find out how to know what customers are REALLY asking for
- Find out how Librarians select materials for our collection – and get a chance to help a librarian order these materials
- Gain valuable experience in many of the things librarians do…teach youths how to use a computer, find materials, answer questions, make recommendations, programs and story times, create displays and thematic settings, and more
- Learn why Librarianship is such a great profession and why the Camden County Library is such a great place to work
Requirements:
Must be currently enrolled in a Master of Library Science Program, preferable ALA accredited
Students with an interest in Young Adult Librarianship strongly encouraged to apply
