How Do I Place a Single Hold?

There are several different ways to place a hold in CamCat. You can either place holds one at a time or add them all to a cart and request them all at once. To place a single hold:

1.    Find the title you want to request.
Method A. Go to the individual record of the title. Click on “Place Hold” in the right column.

Method B. From your list of search results, click on “Place hold” at the bottom of the record. You can also click the box next to the title you want to place a hold on. Then click on “Place hold” at the top of the list.

2.    If you haven’t logged in yet you will be asked to log into My CamCat.

3.    After you log in, a page will open where you can confirm your hold. It will also tell you what number you are in the holds queue. You can also choose whether you want to use no-contact pickup. Click the Confirm button.

4.    When your hold is confirmed you will be brought to the Summary tab in your My CamCat page where your holds will be listed. Here you can cancel the hold if you no longer want it. Going on vacation or too busy to read at a certain time? You can temporarily suspend your holds without losing your place in the queue!

5.    Click on CamCat Home in the top left corner to do a new search.
