Author Dan Gutman entertains a crowd of over 70 children at the Bellmawr branch library of the Camden County Library System, Wednesday, May 29, 2013.

VOORHEES, NJ -- June 6, 2013 – The Bellmawr branch of the Camden County Library System kicked off its summer reading program with a visit by local children’s author Dan Gutman. Over 70 children and 18 adults greeted the popular writer and creator of the “Weird School” book series with a rock-star welcome Wednesday, May 29, 2013.

During his entertaining presentation Gutman told the audience how his daughter inspired the “Weird School” books that have captured the imagination of children for almost 10 years. The series includes 21 book titles. At the end of the program, he signed books, posters, bookmarks and pictures to the delight of his fans.

“Bringing authors like Dan Gutman into the Camden County Library System to read to children and talk to them about the fun and entertainment in reading is an invaluable asset to our community and important to enhance a child’s love of books,” said Camden County Freeholder Ian Leonard as liaison to the library system.
