Camden County Libraries Offer Tips and Tricks for iPhone and iPad Use

VOORHEES, NJ – Dec. 29, 2015 – Just in time for those who got their first iPhone or iPad as a holiday gift, the Camden County Library System is offering a special workshop at three of its branch locations in January.

“Tips and Tricks for iPhones and iPads” will be held at the:

            Haddon Twp. Branch, Tuesday, Jan. 12, 10:30 a.m.

            Nilsa I. Cruz-Perez Downtown Branch, Saturday, Jan. 16, 10:30 a.m.

            South County Branch, Thursday, Jan. 21, 3 p.m.

Apple iPhones and iPads are some of the most popular mobile devices in the world. Each session will offer the chance to learn essential tips and tricks for getting the most out of these devices. Live demonstrations of Facetime video conferencing,  how to wirelessly stream music to a Bluetooth speaker and learning options to capture video and still photography will all be covered.

VOORHEES, NJ – Dec. 23, 2015 – The Camden County Library is trying something different this year. Children, tweens and teens are invited to visit one of the Library’s eight branches on Saturday, Jan 2 and read for at least 15 minutes to be entered in its Read-in-the-New Year drawing.

Next chapter in film series to open nationwide on Friday, Dec. 18

VOORHEES, NJ – Nov. 30, 2015 -- The much anticipated release of “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens” is on the mind of movie fans at the Camden County Library. Four branches of the library will be offering programs to get younger fans ready for the next chapter of the enormously popular sci-fi series that first opened 38 years ago, but not in a galaxy far, far away.

After a Los Angeles premier on Monday, Dec. 14, the movie is set to be released nationwide on Friday, Dec. 18, 2015. During the week of its release, the library will offer different programs at the following branches.

VOORHEES, NJ – November 23, 2015 -- The Camden County Library System will provide card holders free access to thousands of digital movies, television shows, music albums, eBooks, audiobooks and comics, all available for mobile and online access through Hoopla digital (hoopladigital.com) beginning in December 2015.

Camden County Library card holders can download the free Hoopla digital mobile app on their Android or iOS device or visit hoopladigital.com to enjoy thousands of titles – from major Hollywood studios, record companies and publishers – available to borrow 24/7, for instant streaming or temporary downloading to their smartphones, tablets and computers.

VOORHEES, NJ – Nov. 17, 2015 – The Camden County Library System is proud to announce that its Literacy/Adult Education Coordinator, Shyamoli De, has been selected as an American Graduate Champion by WHYY in Philadelphia.

“WHYY launched The American Graduate Champions Project to honor regular people who go the extra mile to keep students on the path to graduation,” said Craig Santoro, director of educational programs. “All successful students have caring adults and peers in their corner. This project is just one example of our commitment to education and is a great opportunity for us to highlight people who support students during their educational journeys.”

De’s work is unique in helping adults who never finished high school get the chance to earn a fully accredited high school diploma and a complementary career certificate through the library’s Career Online High School that offered 35 scholarships to residents.

Donate a Book and Help Give the Gift of Reading this Holiday Season

VOORHEES, NJ – Nov. 9, 2015 – The Camden County Library System’s annual Books for Kids Holiday Campaign provides children with free books that they can keep and read again and again. Anyone can donate books to help the library in this important mission.

As of today the library will be accepting new or gently-used books, appropriate for a range of ages from babies to young teens. All eight branches (Bellmawr, Cruz-Perez, Ferry Ave., Gloucester Twp., Haddon Twp., Merchantville, South County and Voorhees) will have clearly marked boxes available to collect the books.

Member customers can use the library’s online catalog, CamCat, at www.camdencountylibrary.org/catalog  to order, reserve and arrange for pickup of materials at one of the system’s eight branches: Bellmawr, Cruz-Perez Downtown (Camden), Ferry Ave. (Camden), Gloucester Twp., Haddon Twp., Merchantville, South County (Winslow Twp.) or Voorhees.
