All eight branches offering programs starting this week through May

VOORHEES, NJ – March 8, 2016 – Bricks 4 Kidz returns to the Camden County Library System with specially designed models for participants to create. Imagination, curiosity and a love of Legos are all that is required.

All eight branches of the system are hosting a program on different dates for a variety of ages.

ArtistWorks for Libraries provides interactive online music and art training

The Camden County Library offers a new service that provides online music and art lessons taught by professionals for library card members.

VOORHEES, NJ –  Feb. 22, 2016 -- The Camden County Library System now offers library cardholders the chance to get free, online music and art lessons through a new service called ArtistWorks for Libraries from Recorded Books.

ArtistWorks for Libraries provides library members with world-class music, voice and art instruction through self-paced video lessons taught by highly accomplished music and art professionals, including Grammy Award winners. The service consists of 24 instrumental, voice and fine-arts classes, from basic courses to intermediate instruction to advanced lessons.

Library cardholders can enjoy on-the-go learning without having to download an app because ArtistWorks for Libraries is browser enabled for both desktop and mobile devices.

Story explores how quilts were used as secret code on the Underground Railroad

VOORHEES, NJ – Feb. 11, 2016 – The South County Branch of the Camden County Library System will host a special story time with author Kathleen Lindsey reading from her book “Run, Faredy, Run: Secrets to Freedom” for ages six and up on Friday, Feb. 19, 6:30 p.m.

Lindsey’s book and stories tell how the Underground Railroad used quilt designs to convey secret messages that helped African Americans find their way to freedom.

VOORHEES, NJ – Jan. 21, 2016 -- The Camden County Library System will celebrate African American History Month with a special story time at five of its branch locations and other programs including film festivals.

Local story teller Don Dougherty returns to the library and offers an interactive story time about the legacy of Harriet Tubman and her role as a “conductor” on the Underground Railroad that helped escaped slaves reach freedom in the North.

VOORHEES, NJ – Dec. 29, 2015 – Just in time for those who got their first iPhone or iPad as a holiday gift, the Camden County Library System is offering a special workshop at three of its branch locations in January.

“Tips and Tricks for iPhones and iPads” will be held at the:

            Haddon Twp. Branch, Tuesday, Jan. 12, 10:30 a.m.

            Nilsa I. Cruz-Perez Downtown Branch, Saturday, Jan. 16, 10:30 a.m.

            South County Branch, Thursday, Jan. 21, 3 p.m.

Apple iPhones and iPads are some of the most popular mobile devices in the world. Each session will offer the chance to learn essential tips and tricks for getting the most out of these devices. Live demonstrations of Facetime video conferencing,  how to wirelessly stream music to a Bluetooth speaker and learning options to capture video and still photography will all be covered.
