Over 100 Titles available to library-system cardholders starting Feb. 1, 2013

[The Camden County Library will be offering over 100 digital magazines available free to card-holding customers starting in February with a new service called Zinio.]

VOORHEES, NJ – Jan. 28, 2013 – Starting in February, customers with a Camden County Library card will be able to download over 100 popular magazines through Zinio, a digital newsstand offered to subscribing libraries through Recorded Books. Magazines will be easy to download and view on a computer or on a range of mobile devices, including the iPad, Android tablet and the Kindle Fire.

The service will provide access to a range of magazines most popular with customers, including Consumer Reports, Car & Driver, Ladies Home Journal, mental_floss, Vibe, VIV Magazine and Newsweek, which is no longer available in a print version. All magazines offered will be complete editions, with some including enhanced content such as audio and video. There is no waiting list and no need to return issues.

“We’re pleased to be one of the first libraries in South Jersey to offer this innovative, convenient service,” says Camden County Library System Director Linda Devlin.

“Zinio is the latest addition to our growing collection of digital services. In the past month we have also introduced Freegal, which provides free downloadable music tracks, and a new collection of eBooks called Freading, which significantly expands the Library’s e-book collection and provides current titles with no wait lists.

Zinio is just one more reason residents and business owners in our member communities should get a free library card if they don’t already have one,” notes Devlin.

The new digital collection will complement the library’s already robust collection of print magazines which is not going away any time soon.

Beginning in February, the staff of the library will be ready to help customers with setting up Zinio accounts and viewing magazines. Information will be available on the library’s home page at www.camdendencountylibrary.org or by calling one of the eight branches located in Bellmawr, Camden (either the Nilsa I. Cruz Perez branch or the Ferry Avenue branch), Gloucester Twp., Haddon Twp., Merchantville, South County (Winslow Twp./Atco) or Voorhees.
