Local Author to Visit and Sign Book at Voorhees Library

VOORHEES, NJ – Sept. 18, 2013 – The M. Allan Vogelson Regional Library Branch will host a visit and book signing by Patti Sheehy, author of “The Boy Who Said No: An Escape to Freedom”, on Saturday, Sept. 21, 1 – 3 p.m.

The novel tells the story of young Frank Mederos whose grandfather has taught him how to fish, navigate the seas and think for himself. Though later drafted into the Cuban army, Mederos longs to escape Castro’s rule.

The novel by Sheehy, a Haddon Heights resident, has been favorably reviewed in “Library Journal” as “an exhilarating read” while the “The San Francisco Book Review” recommends “this engaging book to all readers.”


Established in 1921, Camden County Library System seeks to meet the recreational, informational and educational needs of its customers with locations in Bellmawr, Camden, Gloucester Township, Haddon Township, Merchantville, Winslow Township and Voorhees.   The Library is governed and supported by the Camden County Board of Freeholders and the Camden County Library Commission.
