County Library halfway to goal; only two weeks to give books for kids who need them

The library is tracking progress toward the goal of setting a new ‘Gift of Reading’ record on its website at www.camdencountylibrary.org

VOORHEES, NJ – Nov. 30, 2012 -- The Camden County Library System is halfway to setting a new record with over a thousand new and gently used books donated by local residents in its Books for Kids holiday book drive. But time is running out to give the gift of reading and get books into the hands of kids who need them. The drive ends Wednesday, Dec. 12.

The library is seeking new and gently-used books appropriate for ages from infants to teens that will be distributed by the Camden County Department of Children’s Services to kids in need of books in time for the holidays. Specially marked donation boxes can found at any one of the library system’s eight branches and the County Store in the Voorhees Town Center. For directions go to http://www.camdencountylibrary.org/locations-hours .

The library wants new or gently-used books in very good condition. Gently-used can be understood to mean books that a person would be comfortable in giving as a gift to a close relative. Books cannot be inscribed with names nor have book plates indicating an organization’s name.

The library is keeping track of progress toward breaking a past record of almost 2,000 donated books. The total number of collected books is updated weekly the library system’s website home page at www.camdencountylibrary.org .
