Lending program starts in July with ten participating attractions

The University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archeology and Anthropology is one of the attractions available through the Camden County Library System’s museum pass program.

VOORHEES, NJ – June 30, 2014 – Starting tomorrow, Tuesday, July 1, The Camden County Library System is offering a museum pass program free to library card holders just in time for family summer vacations. The new service provides passes to 10 museums and other local attractions in the Delaware Valley and beyond.

Passes to six of the attractions including The Academy of Natural Sciences, Garden State Discovery Museum, Grounds for Sculpture, Morris Arboretum, Wheaton Arts and Woodford Wildlife Refuge will be available from any of the library’s eight branches.

Passes to the following museums including The Guggenheim, Penn Museum of Archaeology, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and the Roebling Museum are only available from the M. Allan Vogelson Regional Branch Library in Voorhees.

“We’re very pleased and proud to offer our members the opportunity to visit some of the great local museums and other attractions that our area and region have to offer,” comments Linda Devlin as director of the Camden library system.

“It’s a great partnership with local institutions that extends our mission to meet the educational and recreational needs of the residents we serve. It adds just one more value to owning a county library card.” She urges all those living in member communities to get a free library card and take advantage of its many benefits.

The pass program works similarly to borrowing books from the library. Adult cardholders in good standing (with less than $5 in fines) may check out up to one museum pass at a time.  Members are welcome to go to a branch, check out a pass, use it for free admission to the specific museum and return it to the library branch for the next member to borrow. A museum pass must be returned to the same branch from which it was checked out.

Each pass may be checked out for up to four days and cannot be renewed.  Only one pass at a time is allowed per family. The late fee is $5 per day for every day that it’s late, up to the full cost of the pass. The borrower is responsible for the full cost of any lost or stolen passes, which can be substantial. Costs vary by museum/attraction.

Some of the passes may entitle the bearer to additional benefits like discounts at gift shops or on food sold at the museums. Go to the Camden County Library’s museum pass webpage at http://www.camdencountylibrary.org/pass where visitors can click on a participating organization’s logo to learn more about what the attraction offers visitors with a pass.
