VOORHEES, NJ – Dec. 1, 2014 -- The Camden County Library System joined the maker movement in the summer of 2013 when it offered its first BAM (become a maker) series of programs at its Voorhees and South County branches.

The programs provided space, materials and tools for customers to work on projects of their choice. Now the movement has spread to the entire library system with each of its eight branches offering a program in December – designated as Maker Month at the library.

“Everyone can be a maker. If you sew, craft, draw, play an instrument, build, create with Legos, then you are a maker. In December, the Camden County Library will be your maker destination for hands on fun for everyone.  We will be offering sewing classes, canvas paint nights with Paint-a-Treasure, robot programming with Robodyssey, and much more! No experience required.” says Teen Librarian Christen Orbanus who initiated the programs at the Voorhees branch. She notes that Librarian Diana Fults at the South County branch has organized a lot of maker programs in the Winslow area as well.
