Camden County Library Shows How You Belong @ Your Library

Number of special programs planned for National Library Week and April.

The Haddon Twp. Branch will once again host a stuffed animal sleepover as part of the Camden County Library System’s celebration of National Library Week.

VOORHEES, NJ – March 30, 2012 -- Whether you are a job seeker looking for resources to land a new job, a parent looking for free activities for your children or a student searching for your next favorite book, you belong @ your library.

Libraries have historically served as our nation’s great equalizers of knowledge. They provide cultural heritage and genealogical collections, materials in print and electronic formats, job-seeking resources, English as a second language training, citizenship classes and many other creative, practical and resourceful programs.

During National Library Week and throughout the month of April, the Camden County Library System joins other libraries across the country in showing how you belong @ your library. The following special programs are planned at our eight branches.

Everyone Belongs @ the Camden County Library System

“Today's libraries provide a wide range of opportunities for people with diverse needs and interests,” said Camden County Library Director Linda Devlin.

“We provide our communities with tailor-made collections and services for people of diverse backgrounds, language abilities and technological skills,” noted Devlin, who  pointed out the library continued its support for adult job seekers with two resume writing workshops at its Voorhees branch in March.

She added that library card holders can also get individualized, one-on-one help with a librarian for up to an hour at a time through the library’s Assistance by Appointment program that started in 2010.

Devlin believes that the theme for National Library Week – You Belong @ Your Library “is particularly appropriate since it reinforces that the County Library provides diverse services, programs and collections for all residents.  I encourage everyone  to visit your local branch and help celebrate our libraries.”

Established in 1921, Camden County Library System seeks to meet the recreational, informational and educational needs of its customers with locations in Bellmawr, Camden, Gloucester Township, Haddon Township, Merchantville, Winslow Township and Voorhees.   The Library is governed and supported by the Camden County Board of Freeholders and the Camden County Library Commission.
