Camden County Library Offers Coding Camp for Kids at Three Branches

Ages 11 – 16 can learn basic programming skills using Scratch from MIT

The Camden County Library offers Coding Camp for tweens and teens at three branches using program called Scratch from MIT.

VOORHEES, NJ – June 13, 2016 – Tweens and teens, ages 11 – 16, are invited to sign up for and attend a week-long Coding Camp at three possible branch locations of the Camden County Library System this summer.

Participants will have the chance learn basic programming skills using Scratch developed by MIT. Work will involve programming games, animations and more that can be shared online.

Those registered for the camp will need to attend all sessions as each class builds on the previous one at the following locations and times.

Haddon Township: Monday, June 27 – Friday, July 1, 2 – 4 p.m. (register)

Voorhees: Monday, July 25 – Friday July 29, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. (register)

Nilsa I. Cruz-Perez Downtown Branch: Monday, Aug. 1 – Friday, Aug. 5, 2 – 4 p.m. (register)

Individual Coding Classes and Club

In addition to the camp, the Voorhees branch of the library will hold individual Scratch Programming sessions, based on the MIT program, Tuesdays June 28, July 19 and Aug. 30, 11 a.m. to 12 noon.

Registration for any of the programs is available by calling the local branch or online at www.camdencountylibrary.org/events .

The Haddon Twp. branch has plans to start a monthly coding club for tweens and teens in the fall. Details will be forthcoming in the library’s fall newsletter.
