VOORHEES, NJ – Nov. 23, 2016 – The Camden County Library System is proud to announce its annual fall library book sale held at the Voorhees branch has set a new record, collecting a total of  $20,838 during the three-day event in October.

The Voorhees library beat the old record of $19,328 for a fall sale by $1,510. The library holds two book sales each year, at two-day sale in the spring and a three-day event in the fall.

The library had hopes of setting a new record since it was the largest book sale it ever staged with over 100 tables stocked with 60,000 books, CDs, DVDs, books-on-tape and videos. As chief organizer of the sale, Voorhees Branch Manager William Brahms reports, “When I left on Friday, just the second day of the sale, I felt pretty confident we would break the record or come very close.”

Both Brahms and Camden County Library Director Linda Devlin have high praise for the nearly 90 library staff members and volunteers who worked to make the effort a success. All the money raised is used to support a variety of library activities including new collections, programs and services across the entire system.

Established in 1921, Camden County Library System seeks to meet the recreational, informational and educational needs of its customers with locations in Bellmawr, Camden, Gloucester Township, Haddon Township, Merchantville, Winslow Township and Voorhees.   The Library is governed and supported by the Camden County Board of Freeholders and the Camden County Library Commission.
