Camden County Library joins others in exploring science themes and programs

Merchantville Public Library’s youngest customers surround themselves on April 2 with prize baskets prepared for the 2014 Summer Reading program that starts June 18 at Merchantville.

VOORHEES, NJ – June 5, 2014 -- Summer reading programs at the Camden County Library and libraries across the nation will take a totally new direction in 2014 with a focus on science, technology and math (STEM).

FIZZ BOOM READ is the children’s theme this summer while teen and tween programs will be organized around the theme of “Spark a Reaction.” Both children and teens can earn the chance to win prizes as reading incentives by keeping track of their reading between June and early August, 2014.

Participants can register at their local branch (eight locations) or online after which they can pick up a summer-reading log to record every hour spent reading or, being read to, for those too young to read independently.

As part of the summer reading program each of the Camden County Library’s eight branches will be hosting special programs and events based on the summer reading themes of FIZZ BOOM READ and “Spark a Reaction.”
